Never Let Go Prayer

Oh Jesus, please end my addiction

Oh Jesus, please be with me, at the start of this new day,

Please give me all the strength I need, and guide me on my way.

(I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13)

Please give me all the courage, I’ll need to just say “No”,

When temptation comes around, help me to “Never Let Go”.

(Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13)

For if I always hold Your hand, and never walk away,

I know You’ll keep me close to You, chasing evil thoughts away.

(I will never forsake you or abandon you. Hebrews 13:5)

I thank You for Your promise, to end my addiction now,

I’ll listen for Your voice, as You clearly tell me how.

(For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord,

plans for your welfare, not for you!

Plans to give you a future full of hope. Jeremiah 29:11)

And sometimes if I’m scared and weak, remind me who I am,

I am a precious child of Yours, and I can fight this, yes I can.

(With God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26)

I thank You for Your healing, that comes to me with Love,

I praise You for the Hope, that You send me from above.

(May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,

so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13)

And when my world turns dark, and light I cannot find,

Please light my way to find You, and bring me Peace of mind.

(The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. Isaiah 9:1)

Jesus, I Trust in You

Blessings by John O'Donohue

For An Addict

On its way through the innocent night,

The moth is ambushed by the light,

Becomes glued to a window

Where a candle burns; its whole self,

Its dreams of flight and all desire

Trapped in one glazed gaze;

Now nothing else can satisfy

But the deadly beauty of flame.

When you lose the feel

For all other belonging

And what is truly near

Becomes distant and ghostly,

And you are visited

And claimed by a simplicity

Sinister in its singularity,

No longer yourself, your mind

And will owned and steered

From elsewhere now,

You would sacrifice anything

To dance once more to the haunted

Music with your fatal beloved

Who owns the eyes of your heart.

These words of blessing cannot

Reach, even as echoes,

To the shore of where you are,

Yet may they work without you

To soften some slight line through

To the white cave where

Your soul is captive.

May some glimmer

Of outside light reach your eyes

To help you recognize how

You have fallen for a vampire.

May you crash hard and soon

Onto real ground again

Where this fundamentalist

Shell might start to crack

For you to hear

Again your own echo.

That your lost lonesome heart

Might learn to cry out

For the true intimacy

Of love that waits

To take you home

To where you are known

And seen and where

Your life is treasured

Beyond every frontier

Of despair you have crossed.

For Belonging

May you listen to your longing to be free.

May the frames of your belonging

be generous enough for your dreams.

May you arise each day with a voice of blessing

whispering in your heart.

May you find a harmony between your soul and your life.

May the sanctuary of your soul never become haunted.

May you know the eternal longing that lives at the heart of time.

May there be kindness in your gaze when you look within.

May you never place walls between the light and yourself.

May you allow the wild beauty of the invisible world to gather you,

mind you, and embrace you in belonging.

For the Parents of One

Who has committed a crime

No one else can see beauty

In his darkened life now.

His image is closed

Like a shadow.

When people look at him,

He has become the mirror

Of the damage he has done.

But he is yours;

and you have different eyes

That hold his yesterdays

In pictures no one else remembers:

Waiting for him to be born,

Not knowing who he would be,

The moments of his childhood,

First steps, first words,

Smiles and cries,

And all the big thresholds

Of his journey since...

He is yours in a way

No words could ever tell;

And you can see through

The stranger this deed has made him

And still find the countenance of your son.

Despite all the disappointment and shame,

May you find your belonging with him

A kind place, where your spirit will find rest.

May new words come alive between you

To build small bridges of understanding.

May that serenity lead you beyond guilt and blame

To find that bright field of the heart

Where he can came to feel your love

Until it heals whatever darkness drove him

and he can see what it is he has done

And seek forgiveness and bring healing;

May this dark door open a path

That brightens constantly with new promise.

For Presence

Awaken to the mystery of being here

and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence.

Have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.

Receive encouragement when new frontiers beckon.

Respond to the call of your gift and the courage to follow its path.

Let the flame of anger free you of all falsity.

May warmth of heart keep your presence aflame.

May anxiety never linger about you.

May your outer dignity mirror an inner dignity of soul.

Take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek no attention.

Be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul.

May you experience each day as a sacred gift

woven around the heart of wonder.

To Come Home to Yourself

May all that is unforgiven in you

Be released.

May your fears yield

Their deepest tranquilities.

May all that is unlived in you

Blossom into a future

Graced with love.

               A PRAYER FOR HEALING

Lord Jesus, you once came among us to bring wholeness and holiness to all people. We ask you now to bring your healing presence to us in a powerful way. As your healing touch made lepers whole, touch those who are ill or injured and restore them to good health.

As you drove out demons, deliver us from depression, addiction and emotional problems. As you blessed family life at Cana, bless our families with peace and harmony. Forgive us our sins and help us to forgive those who have hurt us.

Grant us health in mind, body and soul – so that we might become all that you are calling us to be. Use us as effective instruments of your peace, your love and your healing. We ask this of you, Jesus, our Lord, forever and ever.

Ephesians 6:10 & 11, 16 & 17 Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. Security under God’s Protection

1.  You who dwell in the shelter of the

Most High,

who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,

2. Say to the Lord, “My refuge and fortress,

my God in whom I trust.”

3. God will rescue you from the fowler’s snare,

from the destroying plague,

4.  Will shelter you with pinions

spread wings that you may take refuge;

God’s faithfulness is a protecting shield.

5. You shall not fear the terror of the night,

nor the arrow that flies by day,

6.  Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness,

nor the plague that ravages at noon.

7. Though a thousand fall at your side,

ten thousand at your right hand,

near you it shall not come.

8.  You need simply watch;

The punishment of the wicked you will see.

9.  You have the Lord for your refuge;

You have made the Most High your stronghold.

10.  No evil shall befall you,

no affliction come near your tent.

11.  For God commands the angels

to guard you in all your ways.

12.  With their hands they shall support you,

lest you strike your foot against a stone.

13.  You shall tread upon the asp and the viper,

trample the lion and the dragon.

14. Whoever clings to me I will deliver;

Whoever knows my name I will set on high.

15.  All who call upon me I will answer;

I will be with them in distress;

I will deliver them and give them honor.

16. With length of days I will satisfy them and

show them my saving power.
